GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

The regional assistant director of admissions is responsible for all aspects of undergraduate recruitment for students from Washington and Oregon. In addition, this role will also provide territory management for Alaska, Idaho and Montana, and help support Northern California. The regional assistant director gives university information to prospective students and families through various communication methods. The regional assistant director is also responsible for territory development, along with building and maintaining strong relationships with high schools, counselors, and being active in relevant regional associations. The position is an 11-month regional position, and the ideal candidate will reside within the Seattle- Tacoma-Bellevue area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Territory Management

  • Recruits, engages, and enrolls first-year students from Washington and Oregon. This role will also provide territory management for Alaska, Idaho and Montana and help support Northern California.
  • Identifies new market opportunities and works to expand new student enrollment through data driven analysis from assigned territory
  • Prepares and executes independent travel schedule to include high school visits, college fairs and individual student meetings. Travel schedule will be 8-10 weeks in the fall, and 4-6 weeks in the spring
  • Maintains extensive personal contact with prospects, parents, school counselors, and other educational professionals, in person, by phone, and via e-mail and social media
  • Collaborates with Diversity and Access Team to create recruitment plan related to Elon’s strategic initiatives for diversity and inclusion
  • Participates in relevant regional admissions groups as deemed appropriate, and pursues membership in relevant ACAC organizations
  • Creates strategic plan for territory development, recruitment and enrollment including but not limited to virtual and in-person engagement, informational events, and yield programs within territory
  • Supports home office by hosting office-wide virtual sessions and events
  • Partners with existing Regional Team to provide coverage and support to one another throughout territory as needed
  • Assists the university in maintaining and expanding network of partners, including parents and alumni, college counselors and Community-based Organization (CBO) contacts
  • Manages a personal expense report online via Elon’s procurement card site
  • Travels to Elon’s campus in North Carolina 2-4 times a year for training, updates and to assist with on campus programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Supports Application and Decision Process

  • Reads, evaluates, and makes admission recommendations on completed first-year applications from assigned territory. Daily application goals will be assigned on an as-needed basis, depending on the number of applications received
  • Participates in admissions committee meetings to finalize admitted students from both Early Action and Regular Decision pools
  • Will support application review outside of territory as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

DOES THIS POSITION REQUIRE DRIVING FOR THE UNIVERSITY?

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree required. Two years experience in regional admissions, recruitment and/or marketing required; three to five years preferred. Knowledge of the assigned territory is ideal.  Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal and public speaking experience. Effective time management, organizational, and strong analytical skills to monitor territory development. Be able and willing to travel extensively to cover assigned territory and to visit campus. Demonstrated ability to work both independently, particularly in a virtual/remote setting, and as part of a team. Experience with event planning and service to students/parents. Willing and able to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Candidate should live in the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area. The position is expected to travel to campus for 2-4 trips a year for training, updates and assisting with on-campus programs.
  • Experience with Slate CRM and Microsoft Tools preferred, but not required.
  • Interested applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the University’s carrier. Following a conditional employment offer, Elon conducts motor vehicle record checks on all job applicants required to drive a university vehicle as an essential function of their job. Thereafter, a random motor vehicle record check will be conducted annually. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a motor vehicle record check.
